My Thoughts on Jarett Stidham

The Patriots QB search should stop: Start Jarrett Stidham in 2020

The biggest move of the offseason was Tom Brady leaving the Patriots after over 20 seasons. And now one of the biggest questions for the Patriots is, who will be their starting quarterback? I don’t think they will trade for anyone or sign any free agents. I don’t even think they’ll draft a quarterback in the first or second round. I think their starting quarterback will be Jarrett Stidham.

The Patriots took Jarrett Stidham with the 133 pick in last years draft. He played for Bayor in college, but after one season he was transfered to Auburn. In college he threw 7,217 yards, 48 touchdowns, and only 13 interceptions. That was quite an achievment, especially when you look at Auburn’s receiving corps those years. If you watch some of their games from when Stidham was there, you’ll see lots of drops. He was accurate, but didn’t have as many completions as he probably should have had because of his receivers.

Things haven’t gone the way Auburn hoped this season. Going from the top 10 to unranked leaves the Tigers only one way to appease restless fans: Play the spoiler and upset their biggest rival, No. 1 Alabama. (AP Photo/Todd Kirkland, File)

Jarrett Stidham is a very accurate quarterback and has great arm strength. He is a great decision maker, which is perfect in Bill Belichick’s scheme. If you look at his preseason highlights from last season, one think you have to recognize is his fantastic accuracy. Patriots players and people who have been at their practices have said how much Stidham has grown since getting drafted. I think that even if it isn’t this season, Stidham will be a very good quarterback for the Patriots and could eventually take them back to the playoffs and maybe even the Superbowl.
